Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has praised team-mate Darwin Nunez for proving himself against Manchester City last night.
Núñez just move from Benfica to Anfield for a total price of €100 million a few weeks ago. That made him a club record signing.
But Nunez was criticized for his form in pre-season. Before netting four goals against RB Leipzig. But failed to score in the Premier League. The game against Red Bull Salzburg.
Nunez performed impressively in the Community Shield game. Where “Reds” defeated “The Blues” with a score of 3. -1 by calling for a penalty for Mohamed Salah. Who fired the shot. They also hit the goal at the end of the game as well.
Alexander-Arnold thinks Nunez has proven himself. After being sent down to showcase from the bench.
“It must be so. He can do penalties, score goals and one-on-one duels,” he said. “He looks very lively. He was drawn in to score. And he has proven to be able to do it today.”
Alexander-Arnold added that “He’s a top player and still young. You could tell he came in to learn. He bonds with his teammates. And everyone gets along well with him.
” He knew that the starting line wasn’t his death just because he was signed in this summer. He had to grab it by himself. Which he came down to prove. He scored a goal for that. You can even call a penalty.”
For Nunez, he is a prime target for Liverpool’s squad this summer as Jürgen Klopp is deeply fond of the 22-year-old. After he exploded in form, shooting 34 goals from 41 matches in all items.
